Proven Suitability for Solar-Grade Quartz Crucibles

UltraHPQ Ultra High Purity Quartz Sand has been independently tested and validated by Anzaplan, Germany.  Test data shows that our Ultra High Purity Quartz Sand can be used for the manufacture of quartz crucibles intended for use in the Czochralski process to produce silicon ingots for subsequent wafering, processing and assembly into photo-voltaic solar panels.

Initial customer feedback, following direct customer sampling and testing, is also positive and further validates the use of UltraHPQ Ultra High Purity Quartz Sand as an acceptable alternative for quartz crucible manufacturers to current commonly used materials, i.e. quartz from Spruce Pine, USA.

Independent Testing Confirms World-Class Purity and Performance

The independent test data, when compared with data with commonly used quartz sands from Spruce Pine, USA, clearly shows that,

  • Ultra HPQ Ultra High Purity Quartz Sand shows good melt characteristics with levels of bubbles similar to commonly used high purity quartz sands from Spruce Pine
  • Ultra HPQ Ultra High Purity Quartz Sand has typical levels of impurities similar to commonly used high purity quartz sands from Spruce Pine, and can have lower contents of some critical elements such as alkali metals.

Ultra High Purity Quartz sand can also be used for the manufacture of quartz glassware which can then be used in the processing of silicon wafers for solar or semi-con applications, or in the manufacture of quartz glass lighting tubes.

Ultra High Purity Quartz has also been tested for use in high performance epoxy moulded compound where levels of Uranium and Thorium are critical, and has been found to easily meet requirements.
