High Purity Quartz Ltd (trading as UltraHPQ) is pleased to be part of the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct (LEIP), which will be North Australia’s first environmentally sustainable industrial hub. UltraHPQ has already been allocated the land necessary for the construction of an Ultra High Purity Quartz Sand (UHPQS) processing facility which will manufacture product which is essential for the manufacture of photovoltaic (PV) cells, and hence solar panels. The support and guidance of representatives of the City of Townsville, the Queensland Government and the Department of Industry, Science and Resources of the Australian Government have also been integral to progress.
Having already secured funding under the Federal Government Critical Minerals Development Program, and rapidly completing all aspects of the development preliminary feasibility stages (PFS) but already with all necessary mining licences in place, the allocation of land at the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct marks another key step for UltraHPQ on the path to supplying Ultra High Purity Quartz Sand to the solar industry. With a measured and indicated resource of 1.2 million tonnes in situ, UltraHPQ will be able process significant quantities of Ultra High Purity Quartz Sand to meet the needs of the fast-growing solar industry.
In addition to collaborating with internationally recognised consultancy companies, such as Anzaplan in Germany, UltraHPQ is also working very closely with local Queensland companies and institutions such as James Cook University and Cleveland Bay Chemicals to develop a better local understanding of the properties of Ultra High Purity Quartz Sand and its applications.
